Ms Parr said: ‘Whilst at Wolfestone, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with charities, including Tenovus, the YMCA and Oxfam. It felt good to give back, so I started looking for local charities, like Age Cymru Swansea Bay, who might also benefit from my experience.’ She continues:As funding streams begin to dry out, I feel its important for local leaders to step in and fill the void to help our charities flourish.

On what her future involvement with the charity will entail, Ms Parr offered: ‘The organisation is currently going through a period of change, looking at how best to engage the community as a whole. I feel it’s important that there is social interaction between people of all ages for the good of the community. As a new director of the charity, I’ll be focusing on rolling out these changes.’ She continues, ‘it’s an honour to be associated with this wonderful charity and I’m looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and starting work’.
