Anna Bastek, award-winning entrepreneur and co-founder of Wolfestone, recently took the stage at a Chwarae Teg “Milkshake” event in Cardiff, where she shared her personal journey from international student to co-founder of one of the UK’s fastest-growing language service providers.
The “Milkshake” series – organised by Welsh women’s charity Chwarae Teg – brings together inspiring speakers and practical workshops designed to help women develop their skills, grow in confidence, and thrive in business. Events are free to attend and delivered by volunteers committed to supporting the next generation of female leaders.
As one of the most prominent women in Welsh business, Anna spoke candidly about the challenges she faced when launching Wolfestone, including navigating life in a new country, starting a business during a financial downturn, and making difficult choices to stay on course for long-term success. She offered practical advice on overcoming barriers, staying resilient, and building a business with purpose.
Wolfestone, headquartered in Swansea, has seen significant growth since its founding – evolving from a start-up into a multi-million pound enterprise serving clients around the world.
Anna commented:
“It’s so important that women have access to this kind of support and inspiration. I’m proud to share my experience to show that success is possible with determination, hard work, and belief in your goals.”
Also speaking at the event was Claire Swindell, Account Director at Spindogs, Chair of Grŵp learning network, and a member of the South Wales committee for the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Claire shared insights on building brand culture and leadership in the digital space.
Chwarae Teg continues to champion women’s economic empowerment across Wales, offering resources and support to help women enter the workplace, progress in their careers, and reach their potential.
Anna is also set to speak at upcoming Barclays Women in Business events at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium on 9 October and in Bristol on 14 October, where she will continue to share her story and insights on building a successful business from the ground up.
