Translation Memory

Uncover consistency, efficiency and cost savings with Wolfestone’s translation memory.

What is translation memory?

Translation Memory (TM) is a specialised database that stores source text (in the original language) along with its corresponding translated text.

When initiating a new project, TM compares the source text to previously translated segments. If a match is found , the corresponding translation is retrieved, saving time and ensuring consistency across projects.

At Wolfestone, we leverage TM technology to ensure unparalleled consistency, efficiency and cost savings for our clients' projects.

Translation memory: In more detail

TM is a database that stores previously translated segments of text, known as ‘units,’ along with their corresponding source text and target text pairs. These units can range from individual words and phrases to entire sentences or paragraphs.

When a new document is uploaded for translation, Wolfestone’s TM software analyses its content and compares it to the stored units.

If the software identifies a segment in the new document that closely matches a segment in its database, it retrieves the corresponding translation.

By leveraging these matches, translators can efficiently reuse previously translated content, streamlining the translation process and ensuring consistency across documents and materials.

The benefits of translation memory

Consistency: Wolfestone’s TM maintains a consistent style and tone across all your translation projects.

Time-saving: TM streamlines the translation process by reusing previously translated content, reducing the need for redundant work and accelerating our project delivery times.

Cost-saving: TM maximises cost efficiencies by leveraging existing translations, with potential savings of up to 30% or more on subsequent projects.

Flexibility: Wolfestone will adapt and customise your TM to suit your specific linguistic preferences, industry terminology and project requirements.

Continuous Improvement: With each new project, your specific TM and translation glossary grows and evolves, becoming increasingly refined and personalised to your organisation's unique needs.
